The Edmund went down just off Whitefish Point in the U.P. --about 4 hours North of where I live.

Yes, we live on Lake Michigan in the Northern Lower Peninsula. The Edmund went down just off Whitefish Point in Lake Superior-- a few hours North of us. There's a very nice Shipwreck Museum at The Point and impromptu cairn memorials dot the beach. Its a beautiful place

I'm planning another cross country trip to take place probably in 2009.
